Who Loves Life More?

Sep. 16th, 2006 08:41 pm

So today was the Ryerson tournament. Overall.. not an impressive outing for me. 30/43 or something like that. I had an awful pools which resulted in a very low standing coming into DE's. Luckily, though, pools seemed to be the final purging of last season. Come DE's, I was born again with my speed and talent from 2nd year. a little rusty due to lack of practice, but it was back. I didn't feel that good at all last season, not even at nationals where I did fairly well. I won my first DE handily but lost in my second DE to Karl Jr. (who when I left was fencing in the Finals). I lost 15-12, so I definately gave him a run for his money. It was about even until about 10-9.. then he pulled ahead to 13-10... A single for me, a double and a single for him later, it was over. But it was a lot of fun. The best I've fenced in a long time. The best I've felt. It's like I just remembered how to move. I remembered how to move my blade, and disengage and form attacks and second intentions. I was a little sloppy from lack of practice, but the core was there.
I'm back.

I was just realizing the other day that if I could jam with anyone, I'd probably want it to be Tegan and Sara. Just because I think Tegan writes in a similar method to me. I'm not saying we write the same stuff, but I think we have similar ways of going about the writing process. Also, I'd love to have a duet with a lady, particularly one that can write or sing like Tegan and/or Sara. Just my random thought of the day.

Jun. 8th, 2006 12:44 am Where Does The Good Go?

Where do you go with your broken heart in tow
And what do you do with a left over you
And how do you know when to let go
Where does the good go?
Where does the good go?

Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive
Look me in the heart and tell me you won't go
Look me in eye and promise no love is like our love
Look me in the heart and unbreak broken
It won't happen

It's love that leaves and breaks the seal
Of always thinking you would be
Real happy and healthy, strong and calm
Where does the good go?
Where does the good go?

Where do you go when you're in love and the world knows
How do you live so happily while I am sad and broken down
When do you say it's up for grabs and that you're on your way down
Where does the good go?
Where does the good go?

Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive
Look me in the heart and tell me you won't go
Look me in eye and promise no love is like our love
Look me in the heart and unbreak broken
It won't happen

It's love that leaves and breaks the seal
Of always thinking you would be
Real happy and healthy, strong and calm
Where does the good go?
Where does the good go?

Jan. 27th, 2006 11:11 pm Falling Down Blue

Everyone tells me I'm lucky
I've got my whole life to live yet
I can't say they're wrong but the days seem so long
Living inside of my head
Maybe I'll get some relief now
Now that your things are all gone
Won't sit here staring at nothing all night
Bleary eyed greeting the dawn

All right, I miss you tonight
And I'm not really sure what to say
It keeps rolling in like a slow moving train
It gets harder and harder each day
And each time I think that the worst of it's through
I am stopped in my tracks by some vision of you
All right, I miss you tonight
I admit that I'm falling down blue

She lived outside of the city
The days when I'd visit her there
I'd watch her out dancing all lit by the moon
The cold winds the time in her hair
Then we'd go driving for hours
Turn out the lights and just glide
Moving like spirits along through the night
The light through the trees as our guide

All right, I miss you tonight
And I'm not really sure what to say
It keeps rolling in like a slow moving train
It gets harder and harder each day
And each time I think that the worst of it's through
I am stopped in my tracks by some vision of you
All right, I miss you tonight
I admit that I'm falling down blue
Oh Falling Down Blue.

Dec. 23rd, 2005 03:06 pm Robot defense

So Mr. Harper wishes to impliment a sensor system in Canada's arctic north to protect Canadian waters from enemy subs passing through our water. First of all, aside from the fact that they're defending a bunch of snow and ice, there's no way to impliment them.
"Get out of our water!"
"No"
"Aright, we're out of options"
Secondly, the plan is to defend it, not with people, but with robots. Unmaned drones would sweep the water and the air around the arctic to protect 'national sovereignty'. What about social and economic sovereignty?
Thirdly... it would cost 3.5 billion to impliment.
Not that I'm much of a fan of Martin either, but at least he hasn't proposed robot defenders of Canada's snow costing 3.5 billion dollars.

As inspired by Steve: The Random Winamp Lyrics Song

1. "Pretty girl, in case you didn't know, I feel it too; Trying to hide your face behind your tangled curls." (Sloan - Glad To Be Here)
2. "Only hope can keep me together; love can mend your life or love can break your heart." (The Police - Message In A Bottle)
3. "Hey now baby, don't you talk so fast. I'm just trying to make this good time... trying to make it last." (Rush - In The Mood.... The only Rush song I like.. and the version that came on my winamp was a Sloan cover that I think is much better)
4. This one's for Emma: "When there's nothing left to burn you have to set yourself on fire." (Stars - Your Ex-Lover Is Dead)
5. "No one ever died for my sins in hell, as far as I can tell, at least the ones I've gotten away with." (Green Day - Jesus Of Suburbia)
6. "I look at the world and I notice it's turning" (Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps)
7. "When you feel you're walking all alone just remember I'll be there to greet you when you rise." (Jim Cuddy - Everybody Cries)
8. "I'm not so jazzed about it 'cause I just get razzed about landing on your front door in Toronto." (Super Friendz - Up And Running)
9. "If I'd only known how the king would fall, hey who's to say, you know I might have changed it all." (Garth Brooks - The Dance)
10. This one always comes up for some reason when I do this game, so I'll make it easy: "I remember the words, I forget the tune..." (Joel Plaskett - Light Of The Moon)
11. "Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you? Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back? I'd gladly do it." (probably my favorite song of all time, some Rob trivia there for you... if you can't guess the song from the lyrics.. what's my favorite song?) (Derek And The Dominos - Bell Bottom Blues)
12. "Can't say my name's well known, you don't see my face in rolling stone." (Paul Simon - Long, Long Day)
13. "I'm gonna have to spend this quarter on a person who cares." (same band as #1, and like #1... another B-side) (Sloan - Will You Ever Love Me Again?)
14. another easy one: "No love no glory, no hero in her skies." (Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter)
15. "Well east coast girls are hip, I really dig those styles they wear." (Beach Boys - California Girls)
16. "I think I'm drunk enough to drive you home now." (Death Cab For Cutie - Champagne From A Paper Cup)
17. "Have you seen Mrs. Boy? I've you seen Mr. Girl? He's the one who got the looks, she's the one who got the curls." (Thrush Hermit - Oh! My Soul)
18. "How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?" (Lifehouse - Everything)
19. "I want to move but it don't feel right, cause you've been playing other people's songs all night." (Jet - Rollover DJ)
20. "I woke up and called this morning, the tone of your voice was a warning, that you don't care for me anymore." (Sheryl Crow - My Favorite Mistake)

I don't remember who guessed what.. but I think everyone's guessed, so here are the final answers.

1. Reply with your name and I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll pick a flavor of jello to wrestle with you in.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
5. I'll tell you my first memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal. You MUST. It is written. If you don't, I will hunt you down and not do any fun things to you.

Sep. 20th, 2005 10:17 am Update

Well, if you couldn't guess by the number of times I've posted in the last 41 days, not much has been happening in my life. The usual, boring... not that much.
I'm trying to figure out if anyone's going to come downtown with me tomorrow night of if I'll be the only one. There's a Molson Amphitheatre party at a club in Toronto. I forget which one, but I want to go and nobody's coming down with me so far. So if there are any takers on that.. let me know.
Oh, and the Habs won their first exhibition game 3-2 over Atlanta. Woo hoo... we beat Atlanta.
